About 5th Wall

In 1992 John Gerlick founded ACT Englewood, a small community theater. The company performed several classic plays including Blithe Spirit, The Nerd, Rumors and Rehearsal for Murder. Then the company produced an original Christmas play called Yuletide Celebrations based on a script by Annawyn Seamus, a play which became an annual tradition and eventually became Celtic Yuletide Celebrations.

Then in 2015 his sons Thomas and Jo Gerlick founded a new theater company in 5th Wall Productions to continue the family legacy. Founded as a trade name of ACT Englewood, 5th Wall Productions has a long legacy in community theater. The company's first production was a variety show called The Soul of Wit, which featured one act plays, musical guests, and dance numbers. This show set the tone of our company as something a little different. The goal of 5th Wall is to share theater with people who don't normally see theater, we wanted to feature other types of performers in theater, and we wanted theater to be an affordable entertainment option.

Our first full length production as Edward Albee's "At Home at the Zoo" which became the first live performance in The Forum, a little theater space inside the Koelbel Library. Directed by Sarah McNeil and featuring former Metro State University professor Jay Lauden this show created our tradition of bring theater to new venues and new audiences.

We are currently creating our third full season of live theater and we hope to be creating, and cultivating art in Denver for many years to come.
